Mission Statement or Statement of Purpose: The AITI Research Committee exists to demonstrate the efficacy of AIT as a treatment modality, to show the clinical significance of this intervention, and to support the publication of any information obtained through research. The mission of the committee is to uphold the duty to maintain ethical integrity in conducting research.
The function of committee members is to take action to facilitate the collection and publication of research and to coordinate with independent researchers.
The specific short-term goal of third-party research on the effectiveness of AIT is to apply for and receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs for AIT training will increase the desire for more clinicians to be AIT certified.
Long term goals include more comparative research to other evidence-based trauma treatment interventions.
Authority: The AITI Research Committee has the authority to conduct research, to support the publication of case studies and oversee data collection by independent researchers.
The committee needs Board Members approval for any financial decisions or the releasing of any funds and any policy creation. Also, the AITI Board will be consulted on significant changes in committee membership or removing committee members as stated above in Committee Membership.
Responsibilities:
1) Encourage, promote and coordinate AIT research into areas of concern to the clinical and mental health treatment community.
* Identify, through surveys and other means, areas of interest which may be the subject of research projects.
* Assist in AIT research projects and coordinate with other independent researchers who will conduct research into the clinical significance and/or efficacy of AIT.
* Develop a list of potential researchers for projects.
2) Manage AIT research projects and submit results to the AITI Board for consideration. Other than the annual review (see below), presentations to the AITI Board will be on an as needed basis.
* Support and facilitate the submission of completed clinical studies for publication to relevant journals.
* Submit an annual report of research activities to the AITI BoD. This annual review to the
AITI Board will include accomplishments during the previous year and proposed activities for the coming.
3) Disseminate research information to AIT clinicians. Maintain a resource library of publications produced by the AITI Research Committee and other independent researchers and encourage AITI members to use this resource.
4) Coordinate research activities with other research institutions in the effort to promote academic and clinical relationships with AITI.
5) Promote the funding of research activities at both the local and global level. Support the research and educational purposes of AITI by encouraging applications for grant funding.
6) Maintain a file of records and correspondence to pass on to any successors at the close of a committee member’s service commitment of 2 years.
7) Additional research responsibilities as needed.
